And thanks for the Rail donations
The second track path is almost done. only a few blocks more in the middle. i'll finish that this evening.
At the (new) spawn end i did a test design with levers and glowstone for the powered rails. not sure if you like it? if not just rip it apart

Don't use levers. Redstone Torches go under the rails(Don't know if a lever would work under the rail). With the new spawn end i changed the design so it doesn't need a walkway, but its the same system as used on the bits which have a walkway. Where you have a block in the middle of the tracks with redstone torches either side of it(Under the rails). Just destroy one of the line blocks, place a redstone torch on the middle block and then replace the line.
Glowstone isn't a good idea as the rail is very long and you would need a large amount of it. Torches are better as you can get alot of them easily.
P.S You can get away without having Powered Rails so often. At the old spawn end Corey got away with large distances between them.
FWIW it may be worth using more powered rails than strictly nessecery, otherwise you may get unmanned carts left on the track in places. Of course on the uphill gradients empty carts will probably roll back and can be "filtered out" that way.
I've been playing Tekkit too long to really comment on Vanilla rail rules but I seem to recall that for manned carts with a good launch you could have 8 or more regular rails between boosts but for unmanned carts any more than 5 was likely to make the cart roll to a halt.
Also if you do hit a stopped cart on a well powered track you'll probably just push it ahead of you, whereas on a less well powered track you'll roll to a halt.
so just try and finish the whole structure of the rail first i'll claim that land we're at at new spawn to no takes it
The optimal spacing for powered rails in singleplayer is 38. Multiplayer is very different of course. With a personal rail i had no problems with one every 15 blocks. The skyrail in oldworld uses one every 13 iirc
I'm ok with any value but i guess we should set one value to use before starting to build the rail. The powered ones, at least. Normal rails can be placed beforehand ofc
The middle part of the Skyrail is now done I just finished it then went of Minecraft for a break :3

P.S Corey we should get a proper list of contributors. in the first post of this thread.

I put a list of the contributors and people who helped in the construction of the Skyrail on the first post and we're out of rails and I was also thinking if we should name the Station khoe suggested Silverfish Station and I was thinking we should name the Skyrail too, I came up with interspawnional but it's weird if you try to pronounce it lol any suggestions for whose two?
common rails done for both tracks.
didn't start with the powered ones yet since i'm still unsure about the spacing to use. When you started the rail from oldspawn there are some really large spacings but it seems to work fine. So no idea which value to use?
I was putting down some powered rails where it felt like there needed to be some cause the cart was getting real slow, sure if you find a good spacing go ahead and do it cause it'd be better the way I was doing it lol
Should we do a grand opening to the skyrail once it's all finished? Lol
After talkin with corey i just settled with a 19 spacing (one powered every 20 blocks). Seems to work well so far, for me at least. Only about 200-300 blocks left to power on the oldspawn side. Once that's done i guess we need some beta testing.
I've been testing the rail on both lines it's working fine and I fix the stopping part near old spawn too, don't want any1 using it until the whole rail is converted to the new streamline one then we could do a grand opening or something
Mkay I'll start destroying more of the bottom when I come on later
Well, the Skyrail project may be extended if there are more destinations people want connected up.
The Skyrail project can keep going there's no stopping us we can say like there's different branches of the Skyrail project if we're to ever do another Skyrail to another destination, if you read the the first page of posts you'd see of destinations that might welcome a Skyrail to that area, so have a look at that

If we ever do make more the best idea would be to convert a section of track into a "Switching Station". Where you could then goto multiple destinations. Somewhere where there is no other builds. That way it could go in any direction without hitting someones build and the existing stations wouldn't need to be modified.
To keep them simple, if ever built it should be where you get out of the minecart and place it on another set of tracks if you want to switch or press a button to continue. Rather than some complex system.
Well keep that method you said if we start another skyrail to save us time and wood
