I just want to know what's goin on with this lag recently. It's not just because of 1.8 because as soon as we did the switch we didn't have these lag problems. It's just been over the past week its gotten terrible.. anyone have any ideas? I don't usually post stuff.. but it just took me 5 min to cut a tree down.. so I had to say something.
Agreed. It has been a bit bad.
I don't know if it'll help, but I've been wondering if maybe the 1.9 server that was setup is somehow indirectly affecting the 1.8 server?
For me at least, timing wise it makes sense, ever since the 1.9 server was setup is when the lag started being more common.. and with the server being updated to 1.9 pre 2 it has gotten even worse..
I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence and the 1.9 server has nothing to do with it, but if it's on the same machine it might be worth a shot to shut the 1.9 server down for a day or two just to see if the lag on the 1.8 server improves at all.
Again, just an idea.. otherwise only thing I can think of is bukkit just being bukkit.
Thing is though, the 1.9 pre server is not on the same server as the 1.8 one. If I remember correctly (at least how it's been done in the past), the 1.9 server is on the TS server (webserver). This would then not directly affect the 1.8 server we normally play on.
But, I could be mistaken here. If it in fact is on the same box, then that could very much be the issue.
Also, the 1.9 server is the same that we were using for the 1.8 pre-release, and that caused no problems at all. That said, hardly anyone is using the test server, so shutting it down for a couple of days to see if it solves the problem wouldn't hurt.
Yeah, I don't believe the test server is needed at all.
Wonder what the cause is.
The test server has the same url as the normal server, so unless broonie has got some clever redirections happening on that port, I would assume its the same machine?
If so, I definitely agree we should try without it.
Pre-release server has been taken offline.
Please let me know of any changes/improvements.
It does certainly seem a lot better.
