I know you may be thinking "its impossible without water" but we still have pistons and cactus, it might be a big project and probably not much use, but it will be possible to have houses made out of gold blocks \o/ and it would be cool just to prove its possible

Lava. Zombie Pigmen aren't affected by lava, so it would work just like water for them.

or ice .. i think you can still use ice to get water in the nether.. dont quote me on that though

From what I heard, it's Gold Nuggests --> Gold bars.

You craft X amount of nuggets to get 1 bar.

sample, im sure it was put the gold nugget in a furnace to melt them into bars? and also lava is slow but you CAN drown them in lava, so a possible slow drowning trap?

9 Nuggets in a Crafting Bench makes 1 Ingot. Not much...

A trap is definitely possible. Drowning in lava won't work, cos items still get destroyed in lava. Like joejoe said, we have ice, which can create water in the Nether so it'll be easy enough to make a falling tower trap or use pistons to crush 'em manually.

it may not be much, but some people have stacks of tnt, and since 9 is less than double 5 and the fact that the nether is swarming with pigmen, it wont be long before you 2 or 3 stacks of gold blocks

I have significant quantities of ice that I would be willing to put towards this project... however we do have the major problem of the nether being a non-policed zone of carnage and mayhem...

just have to make it in a very lonely location .. mabey if we get a bigger map then construct a portal in the very corner and start from there that way therte should be a very very small abound of ... bother...
