FTB Unleashed spawn prep

Hey guys. My brain glitched and forgot i was on 3-11 shift all week so spawn might get built a little slower.
I'll sketch up a general plan for the idea if any donators+ want to pitch in to help it would be very appreciated.

The theme is an circular style city with central glass dome for the spawn area. on the outskirts of the city will be the dock yards.

so grab your thinking hats for designs and we'll work together on this based around the structural layout plan.

Also Piggles, if you can see a better design for that spawn area floor, be my guest. I kinda started a possible layout but not sure of the outcome.
There are 4 chests at the glass spire around the beacon beam that hold any supplies we need.

Ok maybe something like this. Excuse the really crappy plan. I did it in a bit of a rush. ok so the sections - Spawn dome - <10 block water space around (maybe tree planters etc)> - circular path 5 wide with sidings (slabs or something) - Community (info house etc) (at least 15-20 blocks wide) - <10 block water space> - Circular path - Stores/spawn homes maybe - <10 block water space> - Dock yards at the end of the main road there will be a massive galleon kinda like we decided to way anchor and build a community on the water from the ship. Hopefully like the one from old vanilla spawn. The plan for the roads and water space may have to be widened some depending on scale. There will also be a portal leading to the main land at "/warp home" area including end, nether and twilight portals.

Circular would be awesome however Square set roads would be easier to construct the buildings etc. But the basic plan is there it just needs decided on. Remember I may be designing this spawn but it's a community project. Input is always welcomed.

I really like the circular layout idea. But for circular roads we should leave much more space between them to be able to fit any buildings inside. For let's say 10x10 buildings we would need at least 20 space between the roads. Didn't do the maths but with circular it's a lot.
Another option would be to make several small platforms for the buildings but i think the circular road looks better.

Agreed. It will take a hell of a lot more work to get the circular road working right than a grid layout road. After the shift i had tonight i really will need help. i got home at 12pm and that leaves 2 hours to eat, shower and play some MC before bed.

As for the roads, I do agree with adren (we will need more room for buildings such as shops, etc) maybe building plots for the buildings and leaving them blank would be a good idea, then anyone could have a building. Also, would we have building themes for the spawn area?

Thing about circles in mc they can't have the same circumference all the way around , it just of work , you'll struggle fitting even plots in I'd suggest some gardens or farms or market plots to even things out but what do i know ?? Heh

Well yeah, the rings can have varied buildings. there's going to be a TON of space around the dome. Main buildings we need right now are Info house, spawn food supply and portals cabin. Those can be around the center ring staggered by yeah gardens or such.

Building theme for this spawn? hmmm, concidering every other spawn has had a theme except the one i'm trying to re-light. nope, no theme except for the main center ring community builds (theme to be discussed). I loved that sort of variety that many players brought to the old spawn and i think it truly depicts the Diversity of our players more than a strict theme base.

Also if anyone is REALLY damned good at ship building and wants to build the galleon that would be great.

For all of those who are helping build spawn (donators+ and construction aid only) can helpers or donators please assist with transporting non donator members to build when the roads are complete.
The warp for the new spawn is "/warp spawn". Fancy that huh? tongue

Ok so, for now we need the ring roads constructed. i agree with adren also. I've marked out the original spacing just to see. If it needs shifted by 5-10 blocks
please do so it's just a rough guide at this point.

As for the perfectly circular. actually it can be using the MFFS tube setting to get a perfect circle and using a module to auto place the blocks. it just needs to be set right however i do know what you mean. some places the siding will be 3 slabs thick. some places 1 thick, we can work around this. I'll get to that when we've decided on the spacing (This is priority).

Let me know the spacing and i'll do the MFFS so we can get started building spawn fully.

Now heres the last thing. This spawn isn't going to be restricted to the ring. After the main ring is complete there will be a nice big spawn road that will be a square grid away from the main circle spawn area. So dont worry. House plots etc will come, just spawn comes firts atm.

Started to lay out some quarter circles for the road. More as a visual help so feel free to change it/rip it as you see fit.
For me it looks fine that way i.e. keep the spacing as it is now

Draze, addy just showed me the new spawn, and I had some ideas that I thought have much potential. The layout you already started immediately made me think of the solar system, with the dome you have as the sun.

I was thinking we make the planets where each planet is a portal to another part of the map (since its currently not near much land). Buildings can try to lean on the futuristic side.

The sun... Maybe a thin layer of glowstone covers (domed too), with a ton of nitor on both sides of it, to give the illusion?

It's a good idea, not sure how it's going to fully work with the spacing but definetally keeping that idea in mind. Nitor though not so much serious particle use there.
We'll see how the spawn evolves once the roads are laid out that will be the big decider on how spawn is going to look.

I also popped on to do some road building. Looking good addy, we'll need to increase the road length to keep the water space wider between the rows. I wanna add planters for trees and such along there. 10 spacing between circle roads if thats ok. apart from that looking good.

uhmm, have to say i'm a bit confused here. are you talking about road width or space between roads? road #1 and #2 are currently spaced 20 blocks apart and by the looks of it that is the minimal space required between roads. Maybe more would be better.
road width is different atm with the first one being 5 and the 2nd 9block wide (+ border block).
I'd love to build but don't want to start anything without having agreed/set a proper layout

Oh and as for spawn farms: i advise against that. Basic food farms are perfectly ok but don't provide players with too much stuff for free. Easy enough to get it anyways; free stuff just makes people lazy

Oh, sorry addy. Basically there's 10 blocks space between the dome and the start of the first road. Then 20 blocks after the road for buildings. another 10 blocks space behind the buildings then the start of the next road. It goes like that till it reaches the docks.

As for the farm, yeah a basic melon wheat farm just for some food. and maybe a basic auto tree farm *button controlled of course*

Np addy, it's looking great so far. Like i said last night i'll have way more time to help work on it either at the weekend or while i'm on 7am-3pm shift.
