Headset for PC gaming?

What's the best headset under $200 for PC gaming? I'm having a hard time deciding.. The two games I mainly play are League of Legends and Minecraft, but I do play other games occasionally. I also want something with good mic quality...

Any ideas?

I'm looking for a better headset myself.

My current one cost £35 and is made by Phillips. I thought as it was a good brand that it would be fine for general gaming and online chat.

Unfortunately, although the audio quality and mic are good - the hardware is not. At the slightest nod or shake of the head, the mic drops down, and the adjustable headset keeps allowing the earpieces to drop down, so they sit on the top of your ears which actually hurts after a while. So overall, I'm not happy.

Years ago I had a really good headset with great sound and comfort, but unfortunately it broke as I used it so much - and it was only a £15 headset from some random company.

I did see a 5.1 Surround sound headset a little while back - but that was £250!!!

As I own the Sennheiser headset discussed in the thread there, I can higly recommend it, the comfort/build quality is great. And the audio..is amazing. The only downside is that it is not a surround headset. I do believe the microphone is clear and crisp aswell. At the same time, I have no knowledge whatsoever on the logitech headset audio or comfort, so I can't compare them both. (I can recommend the Sennheiser headset. DON'T BUY RAZER)

I got me a pair of Corsair Vengeance 1500 last summer and I am completely satisfied with them. I play a lot of Battlefield 3 and thanks to Dolby 7.1 surround sound, it's easy to hear where the enemy is.
The sound in the headphones and microphone are top of the line.

Sennheiser is awesome at the headphones/headset market. Though I myself just use am Se2000 and an external soundcard (i cant play well with headphones on). That's well outside your budget though tongue so yeah... Sennheiser's my 2 cents =)

+1 for Sennheiser.

I don't use headphones for P.C. gaming though, nor voice chat.

Well, what microphones would you recommend instead of a headset?

I do listen to music and have sound turned on in games while I'm on teamspeak or ventrilo, so I've heard it can be hard to hear me sometimes... I would think that even if I got a good quality microphone that it would still catch these background noises?

That's an idea. I'm using onboard sound and probably couldn't justify upgrading my soundcard, though.

I've had this since the days that I used to play UT GOTY, never let me down and is pretty clear.

Also, don't put off getting a sound card, even a cheap one. If you have a decent set of speakers you'll smack yourself to why you didn't buy a separate one sooner. The difference is amazing.
