Expanding the Community!

Hello just a thought that the CFUK community should get more involved in other games but still keeping minecraft as the primary focus.

My thoughts behind this are that some members may get bored of minecraft but still want to be part of the CFUK community.

We currently have a Steam account with 55 members most of which are from when the server first began and they are online quite a lot.

Currently there a a few members playing games like borderlands and i was wondering if there would ever be another forum section made for "other games" but i would understand if people wanted the server to remain fully minecraft!

Thought?

I kinda like this idea expanding the community gives new people to play with which at the moment is what CF:UK tends to be lacking.
As for games maybe stuff like battlefield 3 which as far as i know requires dedicated servers for PC
maybe the multiplayer mods for skyrim and just cause?
I know you can have clans for COD:Elite but every community has mixed feelings about COD
And what Team fortress 2? maybe ace of spades as well?

The fact that this is a forum for a minecraft server i'm abit skeptical.
On the flip side though i completely understand where your coming from with this and it actually makes sense. I know a few people (like you said) have been playing boarderlands, and i know me and shadox have been messing around on ps3 doing stuff.

I like the idea but i think the risk that it would draw people away from the server is quite likely which may be slightly counter productive for helping the server, all be it the community may be closer together.

I agree with what q says ; that it could take away from the minecraft server which is the main part of CFUK.

As for what theak said i like the ideas but my point was for more of a community than a clan but i suppose the two could be seen as the same.

Also i doubt a batlefield server would happen as that would require a bit of extra money and donations.

What eat is saying is the reason i brought this up ; he is bored of minecraft but likes the community. There are alot of members like this right now eatturnip minecraftblock0 samplename ... to name a few

Tbh i'd want to see how broonie feels about it.

I like the idea all together because like mentioned before it gives people who aren't all that interested in minecraft a chance to still be part of the community.

My points about it taking away from the server were just something that probably needed to be brought up, because yes it could draw some people away, but it also could bring some people back who have lost interest.

Im slightly on the fence more for the idea than against but i'd like to see what broonie thinks on the matter as his decision will be the final one.

A CFUK community on other games? Sure.

However, I don't believe we should host other servers. That would require money, effort and time which is taken up by the current minecraft server, and it would be rude to use any donations to fund a different game.

Another is that BF3 servers are notoriously expensive, difficult and a pain in the arse to host. Due to how locked down they are, and how little tools you have to deal with cheaters.

The donators donated to support the Minecraft server; there always will be a Minecraft server.

Would you object to having discussions about other games in the general discussions forum and allowing people to share ip's of battlefield servers ect?

That would be advertising, Crazy fools is a Minecraft server, not a platform for advertising.

Discussion about other games fine, advertising other servers/communities, no.

Use Google Adwords for that.
